In the spirit of other “one city, one book” initiatives, a group of local organizations are excited to bring a community-wide reading event to our area. The Eagle Valley Library District is pleased to partner with The Bookworm, Berry Creek Middle School, Colorado Mountain College Vail/Eagle Valley Campus, Vail Library, and Vail Symposium to offer
"Valley Read."
The book selection is Plenty by Alisa Smith and J.B. MacKinnon. Plenty is the story of one couple’s attempt to eat locally for one year.

The ABCs of Mutual Fund Investing |

The Eagle Valley Library District and the High Country Human Resource Association (HCHRA) are co-sponsoring free, monthly investment education seminars for the public. The seminars, conducted by Richard Loth, are designed to provide attendees with easy-to-understand, practical guidance for selecting and monitoring mutual fund investments. Every attendee will be provided with a free copy of Loth’s guidebook, Finding Investment Quality in a Mutual Fund. Anyone in the community with an interest in learning how to make informed mutual fund investing decisions is welcome to attend.
The seminars will be held at the Avon Public Library on the second Wednesday of the month from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm and consist of three components: (1) a 20-minute introductory discussion on current mutual fund topics; (2) a 40-minute lesson on fund investing criteria; and (3) a 30-minute question and answer period to address the personal inquiries of the seminar’s attendees. The information provided is intended to be totally objective and free of any conflict of interest or business solicitation.

| Long time professional genealogist JoAnn Potter Riggle will provide an introduction to the genealogy process. This three-week series is for anyone who has asked the question, "Where did I come from?" and is designed to get the beginning genealogist going backward. Peter Fletcher Classical Guitar Performance |

Classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will perform a variety of baroque pieces when he visits the Eagle Public Library on Saturday, November 1 at 3:00 pm. This concert will feature selections from Fletcher’s 2008 CD, Music of the Baroque. Repertoire will include the E minor Lute Suite by J. S. Bach, Fletcher’s transcriptions of Erik Satie and Edvard Grieg, among others. The concert will culminate with two of the most exciting and powerful works in the classical guitar repertoire--the ever popular Sevilla and Leyenda, by Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz.
A native of Atlanta, Fletcher began playing guitar at six years old and made his formal debut at 15. He has played throughout the country and has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
