Return of the Light: A Winter Solstice Celebration |
Avon |
| Monday, Dec. 22, 1:00 pm |
|
The winter solstice, traditionally celebrated on December 21, marks the shortest day of the year; from this point on, the days will begin to get longer. Many of our holiday celebrations at this time of the year incorporate the lighting of trees, yule logs, menorahs and luminarias. Families are invited to help us celebrate the return to light with
traditional folktales celebrating the sun, cookies, a craft, and a special lighting ceremony. |
