Do you love writing? Share your talents with us! Write a short story inspired by the theme "new beginnings". Please submit a story that is 1500 words or less by March 31st at midnight. Submissions - which must include your name and contact information - will be accepted in person at the Eagle or Avon branches, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org (include your branch with your submission).
Do you love reading? Are you a natural with kids? Volunteer as a Big Buddy at your library with Reading Buddies! Once a week Big Buddy mentors pair up with Little Buddies (in grades 1-3), and read together, play reading-based games, and participate in group activities. Reading Buddies provides leadership, responsibility, and community service opportunities for high school aged mentors to help foster a love of reading in younger students. Fall session begins soon. The YALSA "Teens' Top Ten" is a "teen choice" list, were teens (just like you!) nominate and choose their favorite books of the year. Voting is now open (through October 13th). Teens aged 12-18 can vote for three of their favorite out of the 25 nominees. The winners will be announced after Teen Reads Week in October. Place your votes here!
