Olympus, Texas posted by Robyn

Olympus, Texas by Stacey Swann is a family saga – the Briscoe family in this small east Texas community are the talk of the town.  Patriarch Peter Briscoe has six adult children by three different women.  Long suffering wife June finds herself playing the matriarch role to the offspring who are not her own.  Second son March has returned to town, two years after having a public affair with his older brother Hap’s wife Vera.  Artie and Arlo are Peter’s illegitimate twins by Lee, the single mom whom Peter never got over.  The blended offspring, now adults, grew up together and are united by their Briscoe heritage.  Events unfold for this extended family – a tragedy tests their faith, relationships, and trust in one another.  This compelling read has rich character development and is a humorous yet sad story reflecting on family love and loyalty.
