My Lady Jane

Lady Jane Grey is a real person from history- remembered mostly (if at all) for ruling England for only nine short days. My Lady Jane is a self-aware, comedic, and lighthearted reinvention of her story that regularly had me snorting, giggling, and laughing out loud. I listened to the eAudiobook of this delightful story by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows. As a person who is quick to write off audiobooks at even the smallest hint of a dull voice, I can 100% say that Katherine Kellgrin is the best and most committed narrator I have ever heard.

England is divided between two classes of people- those who can change into an animal form, and those who are stuck being humans. The story begins with Jane being married off to Lord Dudley, only to find out the next day that he is only a human half of the time and spends his daylight hours as a horse. Imagine her suprise. The story takes so many twists and turns from there, I don't want to give even the tiniest hint away, except to say that I absolutely adored this book. I have been in a little bit of a slump with my book selection lately, so I was thrilled to come across such a gem. If you like romance, fantasy, light-hearted stories and smart comedy, you will love this book. As a bonus- if you like audiobooks even a little bit this one is absolutely worth indulging in. 5/5 Stars
