Reimagine the library as a space to create!
Welcome to the Eagle Valley Library District’s Spark Studio, a makerspace designed for learning, exploring, and creating.
The idea behind our makerspace is to help you help yourself. Experiential learning, or learning by doing, is what this space and tools are all about. Generally, we want you to try and figure things out on your own through trial and error, watching video tutorials, and reading what others have tried. If you are all out of options though, have tried these tools and are still completely stuck, we will do our best to get you over that hurdle. Please fill out our Spark Studio Training Request Form, describing your request for help in detail and a staff member best suited to assist you will contact you to schedule a one-on-one appointment. Please understand that not all staff members are experts and you will not be able to get assistance without scheduling a time with a Librarian. We are learning as we go just as you are!
Before you begin, you must sign the Release Waiver.
- Children 5 to 14 may only be in the room with an adult who has agreed to be responsible for the child.
- Minors 15-17 may use the room alone if their parent or guardian has signed the Spark Studio Release of Liability and Indemnification Agreement.
After you have signed the release form, you will receive a Spark Studio access pass that you will need to bring and show to the desk staff in order to be admitted into the Spark Studio.
The Really Important Stuff!
The only exceptions to our philosophy of experiential learning are:
- 3D printer;
- Oculus Rift virtual reality system (must be 15 or older to use);
- Canon Imageprograf Pro 1000 photo print; and
- the Canon XC10 4K Professional Camcorder Kit.
To use this equipment, you must first attend a training with one of our librarians. Please use the Spark Studio Training Request Form form to request training. Plan on 30 minutes to an hour for the training (depending on which piece of equipment and your current level of knowledge). After successfully completing the training, you will be able to schedule and use the equipment on your own and your access pass with be marked to reflect your training.
Spark Studio has temporarily relocated to the Gypsum Public Library during the Eagle Public Library's Renovation and Expansion project. Spark Studio is open when the Gypsum Public Library is open. The studio closes 30 minutes before the library closing.
