HCSS - Bear Basics from McNeil River Alaska

Join us as we learn about the largest seasonal gathering of Brown Bears at McNeil River State Game Sanctuary in Alaska.  Bear Behavior such as fishing, foraging, playing and mating will be discussed. I will also talk about Safety in Bear country and strategies to mitigate bear human conflict. 

Tom Griffin is the current Manager of McNeil River State Game Sanctuary in Alaska.
He has worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and game at McNeil River State Game Sanctuary for the past 19 seasons. 
Tom has also worked at Anan Creek Wildlife Observatory in southeast Alaska for 3 seasons prior to his time at McNeil River.

This is the second presenttion in the 2019 High Counry Speaker Series. The series is a partnership program between Walking Mountains Science Center and the Eagle Valley Library District. The mission of the High Country Speaker Series is to encourage environmental awareness, inspire positive relationships with the natural world, and to create thought provoking dialogue in our community.
