Databases for Kids

  • Beanstack compiles book recommendations from the Eagle Valley Library District's catalog to make personalized book suggestions. With Beanstack, patrons can track their reading, review books, find curated book lists and earn badges through online programs. Beanstack is available for patrons of all ages and it is a great resource for children 0-11 and their caregivers.

  • Looking for homework help?  Get help with your class assignments using Explora, a kid-friendly interface from EBSCO. Learn about endangered species, famous musicians, space exploration and more! Explora contains complete articles from dozens of the most popular elementary school magazines. All complete articles are assigned reading-level indicators (Lexiles®), and many articles are available in color PDF. You’ll also find easy-to-read encyclopedia entries written specifically for kids and more than one million images of photos, maps and flags!

  • A database with over 78,000 fiction and nonfiction titles for teens, older kids and younger kids. Find reviews, lexile ratings, book discussion guides, recommended reads lists and more!

  • Thanks to a grant from the Colorado State Library, EVLD's young patrons now have access to all four PebbleGo databases—Animals, Social Studies, Earth & Space and Biography. Designed for beginning researchers in grades K-3, these four databases feature leveled text for beginning readers and are enriched with spoken-word audio, text highlighting and audio and video clips.

  • TumbleBookLibrary is an online collection of animated, talking picture books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love. View our tutorial!

  • World Book Web is a suite of online research tools covering the needs of students from grade school to grad school, providing encyclopedia articles, primary source collections, educator tools, student activities, pictures, audio, and video, complemented by current periodicals and related Web sites. The available websites include World Book Advanced (High School & College), World Book Online Info Finder (Middle School), World Book Online for Kids (Elementary School), and Gran Enciclopedia Hispánica (a Spanish Language Encyclopedia).
