Build A Better World

Grab your hardhat, load your tool belt, and don’t forget the blueprints! Students entering first through sixth grade are invited join the crew at the Eagle Valley Libraries for eight weeks of summer reading program activities. Come explore topics like construction, building and more; it’ll be loads of fun! Summer Reading registration begins in June! 

New this year – participants can earn virtual badges and complete fun activates online through a new Summer Reading website called Beanstack.  

Eagle Valley Libraries are also offering Early Literacy Summer Reading to children birth to five years of age. Sign up and earn prizes!

EVLD hosts weekly summer reading programs for all rising 1st - 6th graders. July's schedule:

Avon Public Library: Wednesdays, June 7 - July 26 @ 1:00 pm

  • Wednesday, July 5 at 1:00pm

        littleBits Building Challenge - Build unlimited projects with electronic components.

  • Wednesday, July 12 at 1:00pm

        Bird Feeders - Build bird feeders from recycled milk and juice cartons.

  • Wednesday, July 19 at 1:00pm

        KEVA Plank Building Challenge - Design and build amazing structures with small wooden blocks.

  • Wednesday, July 26 at 1:00pm

        Animal Architecture - Discover amazing animal architects with the Walking Mountains Science Center.


Eagle Public Library:

  • Thursday, July 13 at 2:00pm for 1st - 3rd grade students and at 3:00pm for 4th - 6th grade students. Sign-up is required.

Summer Makers: Join us each week to tackle fun challenges and get creative with free building time! Utilize tools from newspaper to LEGO to LittleBits as we design and prototype solutions to Build a Better World (or just join us to have fun free building).
