Libraries Rock!

Pack your bags because we are rockin’ around the world this summer! From the droning of the Australian digeridoo to the beat of bongo drums, we will explore music through a variety of instruments, performances, stories and crafts. Summer Reading registration begins on May 31! 

Participants can earn virtual badges and complete fun activities online through a new Summer Reading website called Beanstack.  

Eagle Valley Libraries are also offering Early Literacy Summer Reading to children birth to five years of age. Sign up and earn prizes!

EVLD hosts weekly summer reading programs for all rising 1st - 6th graders along with family movie matinees.

    Summer Reading Kickoff - We'll be kicking off this year's musical theme, "Libraries Rock" with the thunderous sounds of Japanese taiko drums as Denver musician Toni Yagami and her troupe bring an exciting "Matsuri" (Japanese festival) to Eagle Valley Libraries. In traditional costume, using taiko drums, various hand percussion and bamboo flutes, Taiko with Toni and Friends will entertain and educate. Fun for the whole family!

    Musical Journey Around the World with Michael Stanwood - Award-winning children’s performer and songwriter Michael Stanwood will take us on a musical journey around the world. Playing a variety of ethnic instruments that he has collected through his travels, Stanwood will introduce kids to a Thai khaen, an Australian didgeridoo and Indonesian anklungs among others in this unique and interactive musical program.

    Carnival of the Animals Readers Theater - Walk like an elephant, swim like a fish, march like a lion and hop like a kangaroo! Come make an animal mask and then act out the animal roles while listening to Camille Saint-Saens’s classic Carnival of the Animals. A playful way to introduce children to classical music.

    Too Much Noise! Meowing and Growling Musical Tales - The Whitman Tellers will share lively musical folktales sure to get you singing and dancing all the way home! Jump up and join in the fun as tandem storytellers Jen and Nat Whitman weave their unique blend of music, movement and audience participation into howling good tales from around the world. This show is a rockin’ choice for families!
