Build A Better World

Grab your hardhat, load your tool belt, and don’t forget the blueprints! Students entering first through sixth grade are invited join the crew at the Eagle Valley Libraries for eight weeks of summer reading program activities. Come explore topics like construction, building and more; it’ll be loads of fun! Summer Reading registration begins in June! 

New this year – participants can earn virtual badges and complete fun activates online through a new Summer Reading website called Beanstack.  

Eagle Valley Libraries are also offering Early Literacy Summer Reading to children birth to five years of age. Sign up and earn prizes!

EVLD hosts weekly summer reading programs for all rising 1st - 6th graders. June's schedule:
 

Avon Public Library: Wednesdays, June 7 - July 26 @ 1:00 pm

  • Wednesday, June 14 at 1:00pm​
    • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - with the Town of Vail: Join Kristen Bertuglia, Environmental Sustainability Manager with the Town of Vail, and library staff for a day of environmental fun! We'll be hosting a “Recycle Relay,” a “Solar Panel Dance,” and making a “Trashy Bottle Cap Art” mural.
  • Wednesday, June 21 at 1:00pm
    • Fairy Gardens @ the Library - Design a Fairy Garden: Come help us create pockets of miniature gardens in the corners of existing library garden beds.  Be sure to look for these hidden fairy gardens when you stop by the library this summer!

    • The John McConnell Math and Science Center - Artistic Engineering: Come explore how art and engineering are related.

Summer Makers
: Join us each week to tackle fun challenges and get creative with free building time! Utilize tools from newspaper to LEGO to LittleBits as we design and prototype solutions to Build a Better World (or just join us to have fun free building).
